Crook County is definitely rich with resources. Forests, rangeland, lakes, streams, wildlife, and minerals all make up this diverse county.
Prineville is home to headquarters for both the Ochoco National Forest and the Crooked River National Grasslands.
These offices are responsible for managing nearly one million acres of public lands in Crook, Wheeler, Grant, Harney, and Jefferson counties.
The forests are known for their ponderosa pines, and the grasslands are vast areas of bunch grass, sage brush and a scattering of juniper.
